Fellow Texans,

We hope this email finds you healthy and safe. This is a challenging time for all Texans, but by working together, we will come out of this even stronger than before. The Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office (EDT) and community partners continue to closely monitor the current situation and are working hard to provide you with the latest information, updates and resources.

Gov. Greg Abbott has issued three new Executive Orders to begin the process of reopening the state of Texas while revising hospital capacity and certain social distancing guidelines. Within the orders, select activities and services that pose minimal to no threat of spreading COVID-19 are allowed to reopen. In addition, the Governor has established the Strike Force to Open Texas—a team of nationally recognized medical experts and private and public leaders who will advise the Governor on safely and strategically reopening the state.I’m honored to be named to serve on the Governor’s Strike Force to Open Texas and to work with other business and industry leaders to inform the Governor on the best strategies to open our economy while protecting the health and safety of Texans. For more information on the Strike Force to Open Texas, visit our official website and explore the Special Advisory Group and the Strike Force Working Groups. Texans are invited to offer feedback using the “Contact” button on those webpages, which will send inquiries to the Strike Force. The Governor and the Strike Force will provide an additional update on April 27, 2020.

Also included in the Governor’s Executive Order is a new “Retail-To-Go” model for Texas retailers. This model will allow retail outlets in Texas to reopen beginning Friday, April 24. Under this model, reopened establishments are required to deliver items to customer’s cars, homes or other locations to minimize contact. Any retailers considering utilizing the “Retail-To-Go” model should review the following guidance located on the Texas Department of State Health Services’ website:COVID-19: Guidance for Employers, Employees, and Customers of Reopened Retail Services.

Feel free to contact our office if we can answer any questions regarding resources for Texas businesses. Please continue to stay safe, healthy and hopeful. And please continue to check in online at gov.texas.gov/business/coronavirus, or follow us on social media for the latest information and resources. For additional information on Texas’ response to COVID-19, visit gov.texas.gov/coronavirus.Thank you all for your continued service to Texas!
