With the easing of the Stay at Home orders in Texas, Hewitt Public Library will continue to offer services virtually and also add curbside pickup of library books beginning Friday, May 1, 2020.
“We are pleased to offer curbside service at the Hewitt Public Library. Our patrons appreciate the ability to check out books, movies, and other materials during this unusual time,” said Waynette Ditto, Director, Hewitt Public Library.
In addition to offering curbside service, as well as electronic services like eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines, and databases, we will continue to look forward in the coming days,” Ditto said.
Hewitt Public Library cardholders may begin reserving books and materials online Friday, May 1, 2020, at 12:01 a.m., and telephone requests will start at 9:30 a.m.
Curbside hours will be 9:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday’s until further notice.
Patrons should reserve books and materials on their account online, but may also call 254-666-2442 during working hours to request books and materials.
Library staff members will call patrons when the order is filled. Patrons will have until the next day at closing to pick up.
The procedure for picking up orders are secure and follows social distancing guidelines. 1. Patrons will park in a parking space at the library and call 254 666 2442. 2. Upon confirmation, the staff will take the order to an outside table in front of the library. Only one person should come to the table. Please note that if others are ahead, patrons will need to wait until it is clear before proceeding. Patrons will not approach until the staff is at least six feet away from the table. 3. The bag will be marked with the cardholder’s name. Inside the bag, you will find the receipt with a due date.
