WACO, Texas (August 20, 2019) – American Bank announced today the construction of two new facilities in Central Texas. Continuing its commitment to the Waco community and to providing convenience enhanced by state-of-the-art technology, the new branches will open in Woodway (2020) and Bellmead (2021).

Design of the new branches will incorporate specific facades to pay homage to the iconic Round Bank located in Bellmead off I-35. Proudly standing as a Waco landmark since 1979, the bank was immortalized in The Old Man and the Gun starring Robert Redford in 2018.

“This is an exciting time for both the Waco community and American Bank. The opening of two new locations – coming on the heels of significant expansion of our Downtown Waco branch – is an extension of our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers both today and in the future,” said Dana R. Hassell, President and CEO of American Bank. “We look forward to elevating the banking experience for our customers.”

Work began last week at the site of the new Woodway location with demolition of the existing Express Drive-Thru. A temporary branch is now open behind the construction site. Drive-thru, walk-in teller and night drop deposit services will remain available throughout the duration of the building project. Those needing access to an ATM can access the one located inside the American Bank Plaza lobby.

Slated to open in 2020, the new Woodway branch will offer customers a full-service, modern, and convenient branch directly off Highway 6. “Our goal is to build a facility in which we can deliver face-toface personal banking, the hallmark of American Bank’s customer experience, while providing our customers new ways to complete transactions efficiently,” Hassell said.

American Bank also announced its plans to build a new, state-of-the-art bank located in Bellmead on the site of its Round Bank. This tangible investment demonstrates American Bank’s commitment to Bellmead, Lacy Lakeview, and the northern part of McLennan County and ensures the bank can deliver banking services to the area for years to come. Construction work at this location will begin in late fall and will be complete in 2021.

“We have proudly served the Greater Waco community for more than 65 years,” said Hassell. “Our commitment is unwavering and, while additional technology will be available at our new locations, the opportunity for our customers to work directly with experienced, professional bankers to meet financial needs will continue at all American Bank locations.”
